Pedro Friedeberg – Platicar con Dalí, Burlarte del Mundo, Ser Diferente y Vivir Sin Preocupación

CRACKS PODCAST

MEXICO CITY. SEPTEMBER 14, 2025

Pedro Friedeberg @pedrofriedeberg is an eccentric genius, an architect of the absurd, and one of the most irreverent artists Mexico has ever produced.

He studied architecture but abandoned it on the advice of Mathias Goeritz. His first exhibition came thanks to Remedios Varo. Since then, he has created a visual universe that combines sacred geometry, impossible architecture, esoteric symbols, refined irony, and an almost manic obsession with symmetry—all without ever using the color green, because, as he says, “you have to set some limits.”

Today, at 89, Pedro still draws every single day from his studio in Mexico City. And though he makes fun of everything, when he speaks about art, architecture, and life, he makes it clear that true chaos can only be built with intelligence.
